Senior doctors at the Royal Adelaide Hospital are concerned at the planning for a new hospital, claiming that they have not been consulted and do not agree with the plans. A professional planning process for this major institution must be undertaken.
Notes
The Save RAH website quotes several senior people, e.g. David McGowan: “On the present evidence, the refurbishment of the RAH defined in the redevelopment plans approved by the former RAH Board would provide facilities equal to those now proposed in the railway yards at less than 60% of the published cost of the brand new hospital”.
Recommendations
- Undertake a professional, independent study of the RAH redevelopment needs.
- Maintain the RAH at its present site
- Revisit the RAH Redevelopment Plan (abandoned in 2005).
- Investigate the further creation of additional beds and facilities in suburban and rural centres.
